Legendary Supercar

The 2020 Corvette Stingray will go down in history for many reasons. The significance of this 8th generation of Corvette has been rumored about and highly anticipated for decades. Since the 1980s, Corvette Fans have hoped and prayed for a supercar that could compete with the rear-engine exotic styling of marques like Ferrari and Lamborghini. When it was finally confirmed in April of 2019, Corvette fans the world over went absolutely nuts. The upcoming C8 was destined to be the hottest car of 2020. It became even more sought after as the plant shut down only a few weeks after the first C8 was delivered. A total of 2,700 Corvettes were made and they were all spoken for. We had the pleasure of working on our first one the very week it was delivered as well as this one a couple of months later.

Custom Vinyl Wrap

Because of the limited supply of these cars, our client had an opportunity to get one with all of the features that he wanted, except the color. He had some experience with vinyl wrapping but was unsure of how to reimagine such a new and highly praised car. After consulting with the client and his family we came up with a plan to build a very subtle, but very distinct C8 corvette for him to enjoy!

The full color change vinyl wrap includes a full disassembly of the vehicle; bumpers, mirrors, headlights, taillights and many other parts have to come off in order to provide the best install possible. We wrapped the entire vehicle in the Inozetek Chalk Grey Vinyl. Even though this brand of vinyl had been out less then a year, it had been making waves due to it’s exceptionally High Gloss as well as its authentic OEM colors. This particular color is an exact match to Porsche’s Chalk grey. Once the full body was wrapped and reassembled we began to work on the stripes. We used a Gloss Black vinyl that was laid out in the exact sizing of the OEM stripes and then we added the Lava Orange tracers for a little pop (also a Porsche OEM color).

Additional Services

The side windows and the windshield were tinted with STEK Action Series Ceramic Tint. Ceramic Tint provides the best in clarity and colorfastness but it also block a significant amount of Infrared (IR) heat. Tinting the windshield as well as the side windows allows the cabin to stay cool when parked in the sun, and comfortably balanced while driving. We tinted the side windows in 35% and the windshield in 75%.

We had the G2 Epoxy caliper paint made to order in an exact match for the Lava Orange. We painted the calipers and then custom designed exact replica decals for them in the other 2 colors of the car, Gloss Black and Chalk Grey.

Speed Protection

If you are going to own a modern supercar, there is a slight possibility that you may occasionally go over the speed limit. To help these rare instances, we have Radar and Laser systems to keep you alerted to potential law enforcement. The systems have gotten very sophisticated in the last several years and K40 has been leading that innovation since 1983! We selected a covert system for this install. The Radar Detecter gets installed under the front bumper and the laser jammers, less then 3” inches wide, get installed in the front grill. Inside the cockpit, there is an indicator light that is discretely installed somewhere in the driver’s view. The rest of the system consists of a wireless controller and voice commands to alert you to the dangers. When you are driving, the radar detector has been refined to practically eliminate false readings. When Laser is being used the K40 system interrupts it for a period of 10 seconds, giving you just enough time to slow down. This is some of the best protection on the market today and K40 backs it up with a guarantee that they will pay any speeding ticket that you get!

For the final reveal, we had a couple of our other C8 Corvette Clients come up and we were able to include them together in this photoshoot! This custom design was beautifully understated and now allows for the owner to boast the only Chalk Grey C8 Corvette in the world. I wonder what we will do for him when his convertible version finally arrives!
